It's Camp Time!

Room 2 Latest
Only two more weeks to go this term, and the second of these is the school camp. What a great way to finish the term!
Class Certificate Winner
Congratulations to Ana for winning the certificate in last week's assembly. Well deserved!
Camp
Now only a week away. Mr Nelson is looking forward to cabin inspections. You will all need to be ready for his extremely high standards.
Great to see so many of you made the most of the opportunity to sell raffle tickets. It really makes your teachers and parents proud when you use you initiative to raise your own camp funds.
French
This Thursday we will have our French conversations in class.
Te Reo Maori
Don't forget to check out the Let's Learn Te Reo Maori blog. This week the topic focuses on telling the time on the half hour.
ICT
Over the next few weeks we will be working on Twitter activities in our ICT time. If you haven't already set up your Twitter account, please do so.
Syndicate Dancing
You were all awesome in the last syndicate dance session. It will be fantastic seeing you all performing these dances in the end of year senior disco that follows the Year 8 dinner.
Maths
This week the Maths Magician website is on the homework sheet. This is a great site for improving your basic facts. Try to have a couple of goes on the site this week, either on the school computers, on on your computer at home (if you have one).

More from Room 2
Camp
Is now only two weeks away. It looks like just about everyone in the syndicate will be attending.
A huge thank you to Mr Stevens for organising the sausage sizzle as an extra fundraiser.
Don't forget to get those raffle tickets sold. All proceeds go to your own camp fund.

Last week we had a revision day, as so many of the class were away, making it almost impossible to work on our conversations. Hopefully we will be able to complete them this week.

Another Room 2 Update
Time for your weekly update on what's going on in Room 2.
French
The class is continuing to work on their French conservations. The conservation scripts should be completed this week.
Te Reo Maori
This week we have posted an interactive quiz on the Let's Learn Te Reo Maori website. Give it a try, then leave a comment on how well you managed to do.
Homework
The new sheet has been posted on the blog. You can access the homework by clicking the link on the top right of this blog page.
Take Action for Water
The class is continuing to work through this wonderful unit. It was fantastic to get feedback from Warren Field last week about how enthusiastic all of the senior students were on the recent trips to Mt Holdsworth.
This unit is particularly relevant this week, as it's Conservation Week in New Zealand.
Maths
Mr Nelson is very pleased with the great work that everyone in the Room 2 maths group did with creating their icosahedrons. What seemed like an almost inaccessible task three weeks ago has now been achieved by almost everyone in the class.
Fitness
Great to see the class so positive about taking part in morning fitness sessions. The link between a healthy body and a healthy mind is a scientific fact; let's make the most of this science in Room 2 to help our students work towards their potential.
Camp
Is getting closer and closer. Keep up the fundraising; sell those raffle tickets! All ticket sales go towards your own camp account.
Open Night
Thank you to all of the students who performed in Open Night last week. It is always great to see our senior students represent the school in a positive way. We are looking forward to seeing all of our 2011 Year 7 students back in 2012 to be our school leaders.

More from Room 2
Here is the latest from Room 2.
Camp
The activities have been organised for the upcoming camp. There's so many awesome things that everyone, including the adults, will be doing for the week that we are at Forest Lakes. We are all looking forward to the last week of Term 3!
French
The class is now preparing French conversations. For these they will be working with a partner to write and present a conversation that includes all of the topics covered in class this year.

The new post on the Let's Learn Te Reo Maori website is all about the four seasons. Click the link on the right hand side of this page to access the blog.
Take Action for Water
It was great to see everyone absolutely buzzing with enthusiasm after the class visit to Mt Holdsworth last Monday. Everyone had a great time! A big thank you to our parent helpers and to Warren Field for organising the day.

Maths
Mr Nelson is looking forward to seeing everyone in the Room 2 group create their icosahedron's on Thursday. It's great to see the whole class making progress towards completing a task that initially looked so difficult to do.
Girls Soccer
A big disappointment for the girls to have the last game of the season cancelled. However, it has been a really enjoyable season, and we still have our visit to Wellington to watch the Wellington Phoenix to look forward to (this will also be our prize giving).
Open Afternoon / Evening
This will be taking place this coming Wednesday, and will run from 4.30pm to 6.00pm. A lot of senior students will be taking part in the evening, during which we will share so many reasons why Lakeview School is such a great place to be for Year 7 and 8 students.

The class is now creating their own websites on the topic of the choice for each student. Once completed these will be linked to our blog so that everyone has access to them.

More from Room 2
Wow, we are nearly half way through the term! This means that we are now only five weeks away from senior camp.
French
We are continuing with our revision unit. Keep checking the French blog to go over all of the topics we have covered so far this year. It's really important to keep revising, the more you revisit each topic, the more embedded it will be in your memory.
Te Reo Maori
This week the topic on the Te Reo Maori blog is months of the year.
Syndicate Sport
We finally completed our field ball tournament; with Team 5 being the overall winners. The senior teachers will now pick a team to play against the staff in an upcoming match.
Girls' Soccer
This week we have our last game of the season. It will be against St Matt's Junior A this Wednesday.
Take Action for Water
On Monday we will have our trip to Mt Holdsworth for this interesting unit. The class is certain to have a great day of learning all about the need to take care of our environment, particularly the most valuable resource of all; water.
Parent Interviews
It was great to see so many parents at the learning discussions with Mrs Hodgkinson. As stated last week, it's so important for school and home to work together to create the best possible learning opportunity for students.
