What's happening in Room 2?

Last week Sarah was our student on the week. We didn't put her picture up, so here she is this week:
Primary Enterprise Programme (PrEP)
The senior school teachers had a day of professional development on Thursday. The day was spent learning all about the Primary Enterprise Programme (PrEP). This is a very exciting programme that has students developing and running their own businesses within the school day. The students develop their own type of currency that they earn for working in their businesses. The programme finishes with a market day in which all products created are up for sale.

We will be looking to run PrEP later in the year. Watch this space for further information.

Rathkeale College Visit
Rathkeale College staff visited this week to talk to the senior boys. This is the first opportunity that any of our students have had to look at colleges for next year. For all of our Year 8s, it is time to start thinking about where you will be going to college in 2011.

Te Reoi Maor1 Blog
This week's post is on counting from 1 - 10. Even if you already know these numbers you can still check out the post to focus on your pronunciation.

Let's Learn French
Our new topic is going to be on classroom supplies (pens, pencils, etc). Check out the French blog to get a head start on what we will be doing in class next week.

A Busy Term
This term has been a very busy one in Room 2. The students have gotten through a lot of work, as many of our parents would have seen in the children's exercise books in the interviews last week. Next term will be more of the same, with both Mrs Hodgkinson and Mr Nelson having very high expectations of all of our students

Continued support from home will be very much appreciated from both teachers and students. We want our students to be the very best that they can be!

Maths
Basic facts are a big part of being successful in maths. They are the foundation for much harder concepts. The website Math Magician is an excellent one for building confidence in basic facts. Click here to check it out and start practicing.

  14. Yeah French is good. It's anoying how everyone pronounces 'ecriech' as 'ecrack' instead of 'ecrake'. You should mention that in class sometime.
